Few more great thoughts

There are only two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though every thing is.

- Albert Einstein

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Thomas A.Edison

So never give up on some thing .. who knows whats round the corner!

Thought of the day

When I was in school, I used to listen keenly to "thought of the day" during prayer. I was sometimes in awe with some of them. I always wondered how realistic they were and respected the wisdom of people who said them.

Thought I should share couple of the thoughts that great people have said.. hope some of them could change the way everyone thinks, inspire, and motivate towards pursuit of happiness!.( I didn't watch the movie though)

Wishes

Why not provide more Templates

After a long time, I felt like blogging again. So before this blurp passes out, I decided to do a small write-up on my sporadic toughts.

Apart from adding couple of new blogs, I wanted to change the look and feel of the whole site.
And guess what, eblogger provides only a handful of templates and most of them look pathetic. Even tough I can customize the template.. I am just too lazy to do it.

Who the hell wants to go through all the code, looking for a link to add, deciphering code , looking for style to change.

I think a blog site should provide more templates to choose from. Why not allow the users to be more expressive. I assume this is because blogs are more meant to express ideas in written format... i dont think the sites emphasize on visual aspects much.(look at livejournal blogs)

Neverthless I wanted to make sure, So I browsed different blogsites and social networking sites.
And I would say Microsoft provided better looking blogs.(Windows Live Spaces).(As usual MS gives out easy to use products.. thats how they sells themselves in market.. )best feature is that you can upload hundreds of images and your friends can scroll through all the images quick and fast using a cool tool.

Myspace sites were not bad... Myspace allows users to upload videos, images, connect with friends etc.But blogspot is not a complete social networking site.. as myspace or facebook.

I guess there should be someone at Goolge already working on close intergration of eblogger, Orkut and Youtube..

Internet Perils

I realized that I promised to one of my friends to write about why internet is a dangerous place to reveal secrets.

my unbiased opinion got stronger when I read an article couple of months back, in the StatePress, ASU's daily independent news paper. The article was about how a student lost her job because the employer had googled her name and happend to find personal views that are potentially dangerous to companys outlook.(i guess there were also some photographs with tatoos on arms.. but having a a tatoo shouldn't necessarly mean end of life)
Read the article here:
Jobs lost

So its time to clean up all the trails that you are leaving on the internet and get back the 'good-boy' image. The online profiles, affiliations you have, the orkut communities you subscribe to speak a lot about your personality, background.

Still worse is the fact that some of the popular search engines 'cache' the pages their engines crawl. What that means is that if you make a mistake on the net and you are bound to repent (atleast for some time now). And yes,it all happened to me. Last summer when I was applying for internships... I made a small mistake on my resume and had it on my ASU website. As usual when google's engines crawled my web, they had a copy of my resume(with mistakes) cached for atleast 1-2 months. Who knows how many employers had seen this bad copy and gotten a wrong image.

Even the CIA's secrets are not safe on internet. And you need not be a great hacker to find out about its operations. " All you need to know is how to navigate the Internet" says Chicago Tribune. If Intellegence Agency like CIA is not safe from the perils of the internet, dont you think its better to be safe than to be sorry.

Just a word of caution before you post-it on the web!.

Movies, Party , Birthday - Part 1

All of us on the other side of the globe(in US i mean), have the privilage of celebrating our birthday for two days. Hence two parts of my birthday(part I and part II)

Greetings start pouring from family and from friends in India, right from a day before and that did set a tempo for my birhtday this time on May29th. Yesterday was a day of late night venture from a sleazy place which started a day before after a long shopping though less buying, wishes, movies and a late night party.

Finally I got to see one of the tollywoods awaited movie 'pokiri' yesterday evening. What a dumb movie it was!.I wonder, even now,how I didnt walk out despite usual hatred for such non-sensical stuff.. On the way back home, One of my friends tought that the movie should be named 'HE-MAN'. neways telugu movies are always telugu movies. I await a day where I really like a movie(telugu).

After this was another movie session, courtesy Hollywood. And then it was 12:00. oh yeah! I was born this day. All my friends brought a cake which I cut and after some cake slinging onto my face,we retired to watching movies again. And slowly I went to dreams watching a 60's cowboy movie "More Dollars".

'not disillusioned by politicians or democracy yet'

"We look up to Bhagat Singh, and to movies like Rang de Basanti and Yuva," he says. "This is just a small way of repaying our debt to our country." (Src:Rediff) .

Big words from Young India. Hundreds of students going on hunger strike for a cause is definetly phenomenal, because I used to think that only cricket could unite Indians. On the other hand the politicians innovate new ways to divide and rule.

I was
embarassed to watch the interview of Arjun Singh by Karan Thapar. I was terrified to see how the politicians are crippled of decision making capbilities, and how they are self-centric and driven by ego (before this, I used to wonder what bureaucracy meant)

One characteristic of a good leader is to admit that he is wrong at some point. Only in military your commander could never be wrong. Dr.Singh can atleast act now to resolve the whole issue, and after some days every thing will be as normal as nothing happened.

Nehru has himself acknowledged in 1960's that reservation was a bad decision and it should not continued. Today we are just being pushed a step backwards by our politicians.
